I am so very proud of my friend Ana De Ocampo, whom I have featured since the beginning of my blog, for her inspiring success story and her ever growing chain of restos! In line with her principles in running a business and how she lives her life—being totally dependent on the Lord for her needs and triumphs, I have no doubt, FARMACY will be overflowing with patrons.
Here is the concept of FARMACY, in Ana’s own words:
In the days of pride, prejudice, and penny newspapers, people thought bubbles were a cure-all. Carbonated water was invented, and soon, soda-spurting machines. At the turn of the 19th century, the soda fountain fizzed into pop culture.
“The old pharmacy was a prime soda spot. People gathered around the soda jerk (called as such for the action of dispensing soda and a swell guy, really), who served up frothy concoctions mixed with syrup and topped with a scoop or two of ice cream.”
These fountains spouted sweet sociability. There was warmth around frosty beverages and cold desserts: where dad treated junior to a cone, young lovers sipped from the same milkshake, and the ol’ gang met up for a round of ice cream sodas.
“Here at the Farmacy, our sodas obviously won’t cure disease. What they will do, along with our fresh homemade ice cream, coffee, and pastries, is offer a real dose of deliciousness. Not to mention a place to cool your jets, get to know your neighbor, and go with the flow (of our soda, at least). Now that’s enough to heal the weary modern soul, isn’t it? ”
Ana’s talented brother in law, Walter, who has restaurants in California, came up with the concept. This is not a franchise but a place inspired by the 1930’s pharmacies which evolved into soda fountains. They get their ingredients both locally and abroad, ensuring the freshest milk from our countries best farms and excellent italian and belgian chocolate, among other high quality ingredients.
FARMACY is located at 4th ave. Ground floor. Net Lima Bldg. BGC, Taguig.
