It was quite an inspiring morning for me as I met with Stephanie Kienle-Gonzalez to talk about her family business’ new concept. This is their first venture into lifestyle as they have added home accessories and a children’s furniture line called Little Philux. It is their their fifth showroom and true to form on what Philux stands for, which is Philippine Luxury. Why an inspiration?
These days, it is quite rare to see offspring who are so passionate and involved in joining and growing the family business. Yet, Steph is like the pleasant shot of espresso I needed this morning, telling me her vision, plans and where she wants to take this once upon a time, “mom & pop business of my parents.” Eyes sparkling, smile wide, this girl has big plans. Along with her sister Jessica, who was busy training staff for today’s grand launch, Philux’s future is bright and its foundation, set.
Philux Home
Philux started when their parents first bought a solid wood manufacturing company in the nineties. They opened store number one at SM North EDSA in ’97. Then store number two at SM Megamall in ’98, Rockwell and LRI on Reposo, Makati in early 2000.
Stephanie joined in 2009 and Jessica about three and a half years ago. They now focus on continued product development to freshen up the brand. They aim to keep it current while maintaining classic design. Everything is made here, done by our Filipino craftsmen and artisans. They use gmelina and red mahogany wood from Philippine plantations. From abroad, they use ash wood, acacia and walnut sourced from sustainable forests.
Today’s sweet discovery was Little Philux.
Ready for the crowds. Stylish chairs and fabric, tagged and set for viewing.
Congratulations and the very best of wishes, Steph. It was lovely talking to you. May you continue to grow, provide jobs and promote our very own.
Philux Home is located at the 2nd floor, 30th Street corner 5th Avenue, Shangrila at the Fort, Bonifacio Global City. 5th Avenue entrance.
