The stylish ladies over at Kathy and Kathy Bespoke have established a company that continues to bring us true Filipino craftsmanship. Kathy Sarabia Babst and Kathy Gregorio Añover remain true to their vision of creating fine Filipino jewelry that dates as far back as the Spanish colonial era as they work together with our local plateros (artisans). These ladies and their counterpart plateros make magic out of sterling silver and gold to create pieces that use antique Filipino design like tamburin filigree pendants and creola earrings.
I could not be more proud to represent a brand that not only creates custom pieces made by our local plateros but how they also support this dying craft. Familiarizing myself with how much work and hours go into each piece has left me in humble awe.
What’s more is that these two ladies have put up a night school called the SINAGTALA Project to revive and continue this craft that seems to be dwindling. They hope to teach and encourage the next generation this fine art. Too beautiful to let become extinct, really.
As each item is unique and made to order, you may set an appointment to meet with them at their showroom to create a special “bespoke” piece that is distinctly you. One you can enjoy and leave to your children and your children’s children.
