Every now and then dear readers, I will share with you, what I AM CERTAIN OF. I hope to be able to convey bits of information to nurture your souls. This series is not a religious class I’m trying to teach or impose. It is rather, true to life experiences that have given me the wisdom to impart. It is also based on the emails you send me asking me for my thoughts on this and other topics.
Today, I want to tell you about a gift I have. I want to share this gift with you. And I hope that you receive it too. That gift is, honestly NOT caring about the negative others have to say about me. It used to bother me a lot growing up but when I learned and one day realized that my identity is in Christ and not in man, that all changed. Of course the curiosity is there. I sit to hear it, I process it and I toss it out. I then make a mental note about who said it and if that person would know me in any way? Lastly, I compartamentalize them in in my mental book of “just acquaintances” and move on. Fact #1: People will ALWAYS have an opinion. Fact #2: Many times, that opinion is NEGATIVE. Fact #3: It is important we surround ourselves with people we trust and have the same thinking and values as we do. Friends sometimes ask me, how can you decide to just move on? I always say, obviously, that person doesn’t really know me or you or us, so why let it affect us? I’ve always felt that as long as my actions are morally correct and I can sleep at night knowing I’ve done no one wrong, nobody can have that power over me. Moreover, if he or she were not a close friend or family member, anything negative said about us should be shaken off and discarded like spam in our mail. In my younger days, I felt (or so I thought), confrontation to be satisfying until I came to realize, it never works, because only few (or none at all) are brave enough to ever admit once they’ve been found out. My conclusion? It’s a useless and tiring process.
This was one of the first things I learned in intensive bible study years ago. I went on a journey and attended many talks on self discovery and inner healing. And upon learning this powerful truth that MY IDENTITY IS NOT IN MAN BUT IN God ALONE, was one of the most comforting and enlightening days of my life.
What I am certain of;
“there will always be someone who will have something negative to say. Aside from friends or people we know, they can sometimes be relatives too.”
“what they say, says more about them than us.”
“the best news is, that OUR IDENTITY IS IN CHRIST and not in man.”
My advice to you dear readers is, it’s best we work on that part of our lives and build our relationship w Him. Because in the end, it’s only His opinion that really counts.
Be inspired.

This is my first visit to your site but i have seen you on instagram.
Your life alone have inspired me to turn and take a good look at myself. I noticed you have beautiful friendships, there are times i sense hurt in some of the pictures you post, but no bitter words come out in print.
Indeed an inspiring and beautiful soul you have.
I pray that in time, before my age catches up with me, i will learn to just move on, because pain is inflicted only when i allow myself to mind what others freely dish out.
Keep on writing, because you help soothe my troubled soul.=)
Wow, Marli, thank you for your brave comment. And, from the bottom of my heart, I am humbled to know, I’ve helped. Your kind words warm my heart and I will try as best as I can to impart wisdom we can all learn from. Thank you for taking the time out to tell me this.

I really love this article, Because it helps me not to care of what others think or says about me. I’m a sensitive person when it comes on the opinion of others but it reminds me that what matters most is what we are on God’s eyes. What I’ve learned about this article is to continue doing what I know is good in the eyes of God and being myself without thinking of others opinion. Thank you for these huge and powerful words Ms. Nicole. Keep inspiring others!

This is such a wonderful blog. I follow you on IG and I am glad I took the time out to read your blog, albeit only tonight. So, I am going through all your archives now. I live in the States and an Aunt of mine in Manila asked me for my recipe for cheese pimiento as she was craving for it. I remembered over the holidays coming across your cheese pimiento being talked about in other blogs and I’ve seen it on your IG so I finally got to your blog, passed it on to my Tita so she could just order from you. Looking forward to reading all your entries. You are inspiring.
Thank you for taking the time out to write to me, Aleli. I’m inspired by your words. Hope to hear from your Auntie, and I hope you try my pimiento one day. I’m sure your recipe rocks too. God bless.
Best,
