Change – I am quite the “not so flexi-girl” when it comes to life and planning. I like my plans well laid out and spontaneity has never really been my thing. But since I started my blog and expanded my food business, I’ve found that adjusting and flexibility are a must. I’m also kind of beginning to enjoy it. My kids call it “the new Mom, version 2.0! It feels good to let go of the rigidity too. Last weekend, was a major conflict, plan-wise.
My friends and I had set an out of the country, girls only, weekend. It took us months to plan since we were never able to get our schedules to meet. So when it all came together, I got so excited, that I forgot about a very important “other” event! Which was my dear mother in law’s birthday! Conflict, right!?! Being the understanding woman that she is, I knew she would let me have my fun filled opportunity with the girls. So right when I was about to tell her about my plans, the unexpected comes.
Our friends father passed away and naturally, we all chose to cancel our weekend getaway and move it mid-year to be with her. I went on 2.0 mode and quickly repacked for a beach trip, tossing out the colder weather gear. We left for La Union bright and early in the morning, and had the most peaceful weekend I’ve had in a long time. Here are some photos from the weekend. For those who, like me, have the OCD in them, sometimes, going with the flow is actually nice.

we heard mass in a makeshift chapel because the original chapel is under maintenance construction, will post that at another time…

lunch for the not so OCD, was a boodle fight! made up of kanin, pansit, inihaw na baboy, isda, gulay, swahe at alimasag, (rice, noodles, roast pork, fish and veggies, shrimp and crab).

seafood overload, this is how we do our inihaw na bangus (grilled stuffed milkfish), it has onions, ginger, tomatoes and green mango for that extra tang!

because the obsessive compulsive in me still exists, i had my meal indoors, peacefully, not overstepping into someone else’s rice. ha ha ha! special mention on the pork binagoongan (pork in philippine anchovy sauce) and lato, a special kind of seaweed that is similar to caviar in texture!

the youngest in the family is 1st given a chance to blow out the candle with only some of the many family members and friends that were around.
Day two, is an afternoon walk on the beach to our nearby snack & beer go-to. Had an ice cold mug of draft beer and merienda w my sister in law, as we talked about life and watched the sunset. What a cliché, ha ha.
And right there, my short and soulful weekend was over. Sometimes adapting is all we need to recharge us and get us back on track.
I have this to look forward to. Be inspired!
❤️ This. Learning this too.
You’ll get there, Juls, you’re so determined. See you soon.
Love,

It’s nice to see that you got a good relationship with your mother-in-law and sister-in-law 🙂 not all are having this kind of relationship.
