Wagyu bacon breakfast cups

The kids, my hubby and I, have been addicted to the products of this Wagyu haven kitchen. Owner Gerry Camahort has an array of palate pleasing products and I’m happy to share them with you.  Aside from my honest review of his products, I will share my recipes for what I did in each dish.

Chorizo hubad cups

Wagyu salpicao over rice with chill garlic oil and creamy sriracha for some added kick!

These breakfast ideas are easy and quick, since they’re all constructed into rice bowls.

For the wagyu bacon cups, I just fried the bacon to a crisp.  Fried sliced shallots to a crisp.  And made really creamy eggs.  I then put rice in each bowl, sprinkled the crispy shallots over the rice, topped it w the creamy eggs and stuck the bacon strips on the sides.

For the chorizo cups, I fried the pack of chorizo hubad till crunchy and mixed in some rice to make fried rice.  I put them into rice bowls and topped them w a sloppy sunny side up.

Recipe

Creamy (scrambled) eggs

In a pan, heat about 3 tbsps. water and a not so small slice of butter. Once butter melts in the water, add an egg and whisk till creamy.  Remove from heat when consistency is still a bit wet. Do not overcook.

Wagyu Salpicao (my Lola’s old school version)

I used 1 pack (4 pcs) Baba’s Kitchen wagyu steaks. Marinated it in 1/2 head crushed garlic, 1 cup olive oil, 2 tbsps. calamansi or lemon juice, 1/4 cup Kikkoman (red) soy sauce, 2 tbsps. Worcestershire sauce (Lea & Perrins) and some salt and pepper (not too much salt). Let stand overnight or at minimum, 2 hours.

When you’re ready to cook the meat. Slice the other half of the garlic head into slivers. Heat the pan you will use to cook the meat in, with some olive oil. Brown the garlic. When garlic is browned, add the meat mixture and cook until tender.  I promise, this will be the best tasting, old school, salpicao.

Review

The Wagyu bacon strips were really good. They were sliced like bacon but had a beef tapa taste to it.The chorizo hubad was very tasty, but a little fatty. To indulge in, once in a while.

The Wagyu steaks were not as soft as the Wagyu I’m used to. My 1st order was more tender than the 2nd time I ordered. But it was still very good. I find it closer to Angus beef than Wagyu, but I guess that has something to do w meat grade.

I would order it again though. Especially the Wagyu bacon!  My family really enjoys it on the weekends. This is one of the best chill garlic oils I’ve had. I love their unique sriracha cream sauce. Very versatile as you can use it for grilled meats and veggies. Burgers and sandwiches. They deliver to Makati and BGC (Fort) for free, and if outside these areas, there’s a minimum of P2,000
